Val Pusteria
Val Pusteria starts a bit further than Brixen, to go towards Brunico and San Candido; its height is between 70 and 1600 meters above the sea level. Val Pusteria is considered South Tyrol “green valley” thanks to its woods, creeks, natural parks, among which the “Vedrette di Ries- Aurina” and the “Dolomiti di Sesto” one. The most important Val Pusteria resorts are: Brunico, the most important city, San Candido, Sesto, Villabassa and Braies. Val Pusteria offers the possibility of organizing relaxing hiking trips in the Dolomites, for example to explore the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the “Dolomiti di Sesto”. Val Pusteria in winter is a very popular ski region, thanks to the Plan de Corones presence and the San Candido, Sesto and Braies ski runs, among the most famous in Italy.
Val Pusteria Nordic ski
Val Pusteria is also very popular among Nordic ski fans, thanks to the presence of the “Dolomiti Nordic Ski” ski zone, which includes 1000km of itineraries located in the following ski resorts: Valle Anterselva, Casies-Monguelfo-Tesido, Alta Pusteria-Sillian, Cortina, Misurina-Auronzo, Comelico-Sappada. The ski runs offer very high level of quality and security and are prepared every day; snow is guaranteed from December 23rd onwards. The Nordic ski Mecca in Val Pusteria is Val Casies, also famous thanks to its gastronomy: other Nordic ski runs in Val Pusteria are in: Sesto, San Candido, Villabassa, Braies, Dobbiaco. It’s possible to ski thanks to the classic and “skating” technique on them.
